{Peplumized}

One of the greatest trends and most feminine one of this moment is without doubt the peplum, that cute little overskirt, sprouting from the hips on tops, skirts, dresses and blazers. The peplum is everywhere nowadays, it gives you the perfect silhoutte, creates a small waistline, add some feminine volume to your hips.

The actual term "peplum" comes from the Greek word for shawl, "peplos". In modern fashion, peplums began drawing peoples attention around 1947, when it was Cristian Dior who presented this New Look silhoutte and changed fashion forever with these nipped-waists, peplums and full skirts to accentuate the feminine hourglass figure.

I think this silhoutte is absolutely fabulous and you can see in my previous post who I wear this shape. What do you think? Below some real peplum inspiration, enjoy!

Look of the day "Peplum Skies"

I totally fell in love with this pastel mint peplum top I saw a few months ago at the H&M trend department! Small guess to say I had to bring it home with me. All that time it has been waiting for the perfect match to be worn with. And as soon as I brought these minted heels from Zara that I scored at the sale home, I knew it was a match made in heaven! I paired it with my sparkly clutch for instant glamour and the leopard jeans from Sutherland for that raw edge! What do you think? I am totally in love with this!

Look of the day "Studded Bouquet"

Again my double strap sandals from Zara, only this time with some lighter colours. I finally found this shirt in the sale at Zara. I had been eyeing for it for a while now. Besides the beautifull flower print it was the small golden studs on the shoulder that made this shirt stand out. Perhaps in the pictures they are more dificult to see, I am sorry for the quality! I decided since the blouse had some studs to match it with this Bottega Veneta inspired clutch with spikes that I bought in Shanghai two weeks ago. That way it gives the soft lemon jeans and soft flower print a more edgy and rock look, just a little. What do you think?

Look of the day "Shanghai Noon"

Two weeks ago I had to fly to Shanghai and stay there for a few days. It has always been one of my favourite cities since it has got so much to offer. Perhaps on a cultural aspect a little less, but the surroundings with other amazing cities sure make up for that! Anyway since I had been there the week before for just a quick stop of a day and a half, it seemed great to bring my best friend Marcella with me.
Luckily it all worked out and we had and amazing full 4 days in Shanghai. We explored a bit on cultural sights, even did a biking tour wish I would defenitely recommend! Ofcourse we did some shopping, relaxed in spa's and got pampered with massages, pedicures and manicures (God I love Asia!) and ofcourse some nice dinning and cocktail sipping. As you can see the perfect ingredients for a great girl trip! We had a wonderfull time! I will show you some impressions of what we saw soon!

{Skirt, Shoes & Top - Zara} - {Necklace - River Island} - {Clutch - H&M}

As for the outfit you see in this post, I wore this the last day when we went for drinks in the Park Hyatt Century Martini bar. It is situated in the Shanghai World Financial Centre on the 91st floor (There are 101 floors in total)! At a heigth of 492m (1.614 ft), just imagine how incredible the view over the city is!
At the moment it is the tallest building in China, but it won't be for long, as they are already building one next to them that will cover a height of 632m (2.073 ft)?! As for the shoes, I have my lovely sister to thank for them! I wanted them so badly but couldn't find them anywhere, so she went looking for me and brought them back from Spain! Love them, The double strap, the yellow detail and the snakeskin, ok I'll stop drooling now!

Have a great day!

Look of the day "Miami Vice"

Finally this weekend we had some better weather. Somedays it is actually hard to believe it is summer here in cold, grey and rainy Holland. But when you wear this tropical printed summer pants, it just makes you forget about all those weather issues and gives an instant summer feeling!! That's all I needed, haha. In the end life is just what you make out of it. You can complain and just sit and feel sorry or get up and be positive, you'll see how it makes a difference on everything!
To see how I've styled these pants in previous posts just click here and here to see them!

{Jeans - Versace x H&M} - {Top & Shoes - Zara} - {Clutch & Necklace - H&M}

I kept the rest quite simple since these printed pants already steal the limelight. I chose to wear my studded top with a gold necklace and just the perfect pair of simple black summer heels from Zara. The yellow clutch just adds enough colour to the outfit and I am ready to go out for dinner! Hope you guys like it! I felt like walking away from the Miami Vice filmset ;-)

Have a great weekend!!

Look of the day "Ripped Flowers"

Last week I finally got to wear these lovely shoes which my sister brought back for me from Spain. I still go crazy for florals, they just look great. What better way to wear them with these colourfull heels and these ripped jeans from Zara. In these two previous posts you can see me wearing the same jeans but differently styled; see here and here.

Look of the day "Something new & something old"

While browsing through my closet I bumped against this lovely sheer silk top from Zara that I bought a couple of years ago and decided to wear it with some deep blue pants and more yellow accents. This again proves that even if you haven't worn an item for several years, it'sa shame to just throw it away. I still love this top and continue to wear it again. And as you can see, it fits perfectly in the current floral trend!

Look of the day "Out of Space"

Yesterday I went for a base with mint, turqoise and silver accents. I decided to break this soft outfit with a bright neon pink top from H&M trend (also worn here) after watching all these neon pictures from my previous post! I actually mixed the pastel trend with the neon trend and I must say, I realy like it! What about you? Would you wear this? And have you seen my shoes? These are the ones from my {Nude Shoes Wishlist}, I finally got them on the first day of sale at Zara in Shanghai, I really love them!

Look of the day "It's time for Icecream"

Hi guys,
I know it's been a while but here is one of my look of the day posts. I'll show you an outfit which I wore two weeks ago. It's an all pastel outfit in different colour tones. I am a huge fan of this awesome baseball jacket inspired jacket which I found in the H&M trend section in Toronto. I haven't seen this one so far in any other H&M and must say I love to wear it a lot, usually with my favourite grey skinnies and high top sneakers.

{Jeans - Zara} - {Baseball jacket - H&M trend} - {Top - Primark} - {Shoes - Aldo} -
{Necklace with spikes - bought in Hong Kong} - {Necklace with roses - H&M}

But even when you like to dress it up you just need to add a pair of good chuncky heels. Like these ones from Aldo. I saw them back in february and they been spinning around in my head all this time. When I saw them already in early sale and with an extra 25% off I didn't need any time to think twice. These beauties where coming back home with me! The day I tried them on, I had my toe nails coated in a mint green nailpolish which looks gorgeous with these shoes. Lately I like to mix and match my necklaces.

As you can see in this outfit I am wearing two different necklaces layered together. It's definetly something I recommend you to do with yours as it gives you more options with just a few necklaces.

Have a great day you guys! And thank you for all your comments and visits on my blog! It would be great if you are not following yet, click on these links and follow me on BLOGLOVIN / FACEBOOK and FASHIOLISTA

{48 hours in Mexico City}

Hi guys!
Thank you for all your 'get well' wishes. Luckily I'm feeling better, just stuck with a small cold. Once again, I'm sorry for my long absence, I'm trying to keep up with everytrhing. Below a travel post from my latest trip to Mexico city where I had 48 hours to spend and discover all the beautifull sights.

Luckilly I had my dear colleague and friend Dewi to rely on, as she was my guide. We had a wonderfull time, did some cultural things, had some great food, bought some nice traditional things at the Cuidadela Crafts market and ofcourse found our way to the Zara, haha. However I managed to not buy or try anything!

As you know Mexico City is one of the largest cities in the world, actually the fifth! The most recent numbers of the population in the Mexico City metropolitan area lays around 21 million people! Can you believe it? The city lays on an altitude of 2.420 metres / 7.940 feet, which you notice quite well, you feel tired and kind of jet-lagged.
Well just look at the pictures, I hope you enjoy it!
